Per Se Legal is committed to bridging the gap between people who need legal help and the resources available to them – whether that means connecting clients to the government’s legal aid system, offering our own reduced-fee and pro bono support, or simply making sure people understand the rights and options already available to them under Bangladeshi law.
Guidance & Referral to Government Legal Aid
- Assistance identifying eligibility for free legal aid under the Legal Aid Services Act, 2000
- Guidance through the application process at District Legal Aid Committee offices
- Assistance preparing and organizing supporting documents (national ID, proof of income/poverty certificate, case-related papers) required for a legal aid application
- Referral and coordination support for clients seeking legal aid in civil, criminal, family, and jail appeal matters
- Direction to the national legal aid helpline (16699) for urgent or preliminary guidance
Pro Bono & Reduced-Fee Legal Services
- Direct pro bono representation in select cases involving indigent clients, survivors of gender-based violence, and other vulnerable individuals, subject to case assessment and capacity
- Reduced-fee consultation and representation arrangements for clients who do not qualify for government legal aid but face genuine financial hardship
- Priority intake consideration for cases involving women and children facing violence, exploitation, or trafficking
Public Legal Awareness & Education
- Plain-language legal education content — published articles, community outreach, and social media resources — to help the public understand their rights before a legal problem escalates
- Community-level awareness sessions on topics such as dowry law, family court procedures, and protection from violence, where opportunities arise
- Simplifying legal processes and terminology so that people can make informed decisions, whether or not they ultimately need a lawyer
Support for Vulnerable & Marginalized Groups
- Particular attention to survivors of gender-based violence, trafficking, and domestic abuse who may face additional barriers to accessing justice
- Trauma-informed, respectful client intake for sensitive matters
- Coordination with NGOs, shelters, and support organizations where a client’s needs extend beyond legal representation alone
